Privacy Policy
The short version
Color Grabber works entirely on your device. It does not require an account, and it does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal information.
Colors are sampled from your camera on the device itself. The palettes and swatches you create are stored locally on your phone. Nothing is uploaded to us or to anyone else.
1. Who we are
Color Grabber (the "App") is developed and published by RIGPA Tech Private Limited ("RIGPA Tech", "we", "us", or "our"), a company based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. We are the data controller responsible for the App.
If you have any questions about this policy or about privacy in the App, contact us at [email protected].
2. Scope
This policy explains how the App handles information. It applies only to the Color Grabber mobile application. It does not cover the app stores through which you download the App, or any third-party website or service that may be linked from the App.
3. Our approach: on-device by design
Color Grabber is built as an offline, on-device tool. The core functions — reading a color from the camera, computing color values and names, and saving palettes — all run locally on your device and do not need an internet connection. Because of this design, we do not operate servers that receive your camera data, your images, or your saved colors.
4. Information the App accesses
Camera
With your permission, the App uses your device camera to let you point at an object and read its color. Camera frames are processed on the device in real time to determine the color under the on-screen target. These frames are not saved by the App and are not transmitted anywhere. A color is only stored if you choose to save it.
Photos (if you use photo sampling)
If the App offers sampling from an existing photo and you choose to use it, the App accesses the image you select so that you can pick a color from it. The image is read on your device only and is not uploaded. The App does not scan, index, or upload your photo library.
Colors and palettes you create
The swatches and palettes you save are stored locally on your device. They remain under your control. You can delete them within the App, or remove them all by uninstalling the App. If you use an export feature (for example to save a palette as a PNG, ASE, or JSON file), the resulting file is created on your device and is handled by you — where you send or store that file afterwards is your choice and is outside the App's control.
5. Information we do not collect
We do not collect, and the App does not send us:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials (there are no accounts).
- Your precise or approximate location.
- Your photos, camera frames, or the colors and palettes you create.
- Contacts, device identifiers used for advertising, or usage-tracking profiles.
We do not use advertising networks, we do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use your information for behavioral advertising.
6. Third parties and SDKs
The App does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software. Color name data used in the App is bundled from the open-source color-name-list project (MIT License); it ships inside the App and involves no data collection.
Note that the platforms that distribute the App — Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) — may independently collect information such as download counts, purchase records, and, where you have enabled it at the operating-system level, crash and diagnostic data. That collection is governed by Apple's and Google's own privacy policies, not by us.
7. Data storage, retention, and security
Because your colors, palettes, and settings are stored only on your device, their retention is controlled entirely by you. They persist until you delete them in the App or uninstall the App. We do not hold copies.
The security of data on your device depends on your device's own protections (such as your passcode, biometrics, and operating-system security). We encourage you to keep your device secured and up to date. Any files you export and then share are your responsibility once they leave the App.
8. Permissions
The App may ask for the following permissions. You can grant or revoke them at any time in your device settings; revoking a permission may limit related features.
- Camera — required to sample colors from the world around you in real time.
- Photos / Media — optional; used only if you choose to sample a color from an image you already have.
9. Children's privacy
The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not collect personal information from anyone, it does not create a profile of any user, including children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at [email protected].
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Because the App does not collect or store your personal information on our systems, we generally do not hold any personal data to access, correct, export, or delete. The data the App creates lives on your device, and you can view or delete it directly there. If you believe we hold personal information about you, or you wish to exercise a privacy right, contact us at [email protected] and we will respond as required by applicable law.
11. International users
RIGPA Tech Private Limited is based in India, and the App may be used worldwide. As the App processes data on your device and does not transmit personal data to us, your information is not transferred to or stored on our servers in any country.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at the same location. Material changes will be made reasonably prominent. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
