SoundGauge

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 28 July 2026

SoundGauge is developed by RIGPA Tech Private Limited ("RIGPA Tech", "we", "us"), based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. This policy explains how SoundGauge handles information when you use the app.

The short version

SoundGauge works entirely on your device. It does not have a server, does not use analytics or advertising software, and does not send your audio, sessions, or usage activity anywhere. Everything described below happens locally on your phone.

Information SoundGauge accesses

Microphone. With your permission, SoundGauge uses your device's microphone to measure the sound level in the room. The microphone feed is used only to calculate a live decibel reading and, during a recording session, a series of decibel measurements over time — it is not recorded, streamed, or transmitted anywhere. SoundGauge never saves or stores raw audio.

Session data. When you start a recording session, SoundGauge stores the calculated decibel readings, session name, timestamps, and derived statistics (such as average, peak, and noise dose) on your device so you can review them later in your history. This data is used only to display your session history within the app.

Settings. Preferences you choose — such as frequency weighting, time response, calibration offset, alert thresholds, and theme — are used only to configure how the app behaves and displays readings. These settings are not recorded or transmitted.

SoundGauge does not access your contacts, location, camera, photo library, or any other device data or sensor.

Information SoundGauge does not collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

SoundGauge does not include any third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising software development kits (SDKs).

Where your data lives

Every session you record in SoundGauge, and every setting you choose, stays only on your device, in local app storage. RIGPA Tech has no server for SoundGauge and cannot see, access, or recover any session or data from the app, because it never leaves your device.

If you export a session as a CSV file or a shareable summary image using the app's share feature, that file is handed to your device's own share sheet, and where it goes next is entirely your choice (for example, saving it, messaging it, or emailing it). This is standard behavior controlled by you and your device, not by SoundGauge.

Noise exposure reference data

SoundGauge includes a built-in "Everyday Sounds" reference guide showing typical decibel levels and general safe-exposure guidance (based on published standards such as NIOSH). This is static reference content bundled with the app — it is not personal data, and viewing it does not transmit any information about you. SoundGauge is a general awareness tool and is not a substitute for a calibrated, professional sound level meter; readings depend on your device's microphone and should not be relied on for occupational, medical, legal, or safety-critical decisions.

Children's privacy

SoundGauge is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children, consistent with the fact that it does not collect personal information from any user.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above and post the revised policy at the same location. Since SoundGauge doesn't collect contact information, we may not be able to notify you directly — please check back periodically if you have concerns.
